Upper Yough is continous nonstop whitewater action at it's best. Come experience class V.

The Upper Youghigheny is Dam controlled and runs naturally in the Spring but in the Summer and Fall only runs on the release dates.

When You plan your trip first look at the dates the river is running.

10:00 to 1:00 and 11:00 to 2:00 is the amount of time the bubble of water is released. Logistically we get to Friendsville Maryland 1 hour after the release meet you, have lunch, head to the put in, inflate the rafts, gear up and the water is at the perfect level to run the river. So putting on at 1:00 is common for the Upper Yough and getting done about 3 to 4:00 is typical.

The Upper Youghiogheny in Maryland drops an impressive average of 115'+ per mile in the 5 mile long middle canyon. Over 20 major rapids are hurled at you in continuous non-stop action. Class V Rapids like Charlie's Choice, Tommy's Hole, Heinserling, Meat Cleaver and Lost and Found get your heart pumping and test your paddling skills. The river sluices around and through boulder-choked drops some with 5-8' tall waterfalls. Brace yourself, pay attention and be ready for some adrenalin pumping free radical fighting fun! Trip Rates and Important Upper Yough Rafting Information

Monday Through Friday $120 per person
Saturdays and Holidays $175 per person

All Upper Trips are subject to 4.5% amusement tax

Payment in full is due upon reservations. Cancellations received 21 days or more prior to your trip will be charged a 10% booking fee. No refunds for cancellations received within 21 days of the trip (however they are transferable).

April and May trip check in time: Ohiopyle at 11:00
or in Friendsville, MD at 12:00pm on the release dates

June, July and August check in time: Ohiopyle at 12 noon or in Friendsville, MD at 1:00 pm on the release dates
